Knee Osteoarthritis
Published 1 June 2024
Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition that causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in the knee. It is the most common form of arthritis in the UK and affects millions of adults, particularly those over 45.
Symptoms
Symptoms typically include pain during or after activity, morning stiffness, swelling, and a reduced range of motion. Many people also notice a grating or grinding sensation (crepitus) when moving the knee.
Physiotherapy for Knee OA
Research consistently shows that physiotherapy — particularly strengthening exercises — is one of the most effective treatments for knee osteoarthritis. Our clinicians will design a progressive exercise programme alongside manual therapy and lifestyle advice to help you manage your symptoms long term.
